San Francisco Airport (SFO) is one of the busiest airports in the United States. It consistently ranks in the top 50 for passengers. SFO has become second only to Los Angeles International airport in California passenger volume.
Come along and get an insider's view of the airport. There's a lot more to it than you might think! Visit our SFO blog pages and stay current on the latest at SFO. We'll keep you up-to-date on the latest happenings and improvements. And stop by and peruse the destination guide, loaded with interesting things to see and do. Something is always new and improved at SFO!
1. Parking can be very expensive at SFO. Finding a good off-airport parking company is a matter of using Yelp! to read some of the reviews. If you travel and park frequently, join their “Frequent Parker” programs for the benefits you’ll receive.
2. If you are into Yoga, then be sure to stop by the SFO Yoga studio and check it out before your flight. It's a new addition and very popular with travelers who need to relax and stretch a bit before their flight.
3. SFO provides transportation between terminals via “AirTrain”, the terminal-to-terminal connection. Use the Blue line, not the Red line, to get to the rental cars.
4. There are many excellent museum-quality displays in the terminals for your enjoyment. Take the time to enjoy them as you are moving through the terminals, along with shopping and fine dining opportunities.
San Francisco Airport has been the site of many movies over the years. Do you know which ones have been filmed here? There was a TV show filmed in 1970 called “San Francisco International.” It didn’t really catch on and ended after just six episodes.
And do you remember the end of the scene in the Steve McQueen movie “Bullitt” where the bad guy jumped out of the plane, ran across the tarmac and ended up getting shot at an SFO terminal? Even “Dirty Harry” Callahan (Clint Eastwood) used SFO for some exciting sequences.
If you haven’t yet been to any of the museums or exhibitions, you’re missing out. There are top-notch exhibits for you and your family to enjoy.
